Our Name
The O'odham word 'tumamoc' means regal horned lizard,
Phrynosoma solare
.
The Hill got its name from its fancied resemblance to a giant horned lizard basking in the desert.
The first syllable is properly pronounced 'tsyu.'
So,
Tsyu-ma-moc
.
Accent that first syllable !
