Description: Short-lived perennial grass with branched stems, which distinguish Rothrock’s grama from the similar Sixweeks grama, an annual bunch grass. The fresh anthers of this species are red.
Special Characteristics
Bouteloua species like Rothrock’s provide seeds for many birds and small mammals, including kangaroo rats, pocket mice, prairie dogs and jackrabbits.
